Turn

Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 31:18

Do you ever feel afraid that if you don’t do what God wants you to do that he’ll turn away from you?

During the days of the Old Testament, that very thing happened. God had warned the Israelites that if they turned to other gods and worshipped them, God would turn away from them. In Deuteronomy 31:18 God said, “And I will certainly hide my face on that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.” God refused to share his worship with anything. God turned and hid His face from them. They had to suffer the pain of being separated from the God who loved them and wanted to be with them.

You don’t have to suffer like that, though. If you have asked God to forgive your sins, he has sent his Holy Spirit to live right inside you. The Holy Spirit came to live in you with the promise that he would never, ever leave. God won’t turn his back on you.

If you think that God isn’t there anymore, it could be that you have turned your back on God. Turn around. God is right there waiting for you to come back to him.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Acts 3:19

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m sorry I turned my back on you. I really do love you and need you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
