Bible Reading: Psalm 146:3, 4
Who do you go to for advice? Do you have someone whom you feel always seems to know just what you should do in any situation?
Be careful.
While going to a trusted friend, teacher, pastor, or even your parents for help or advice is a good idea, there is danger in putting all of you faith and trust in human advice. In Psalm 146:3 & 4 King David give us this warning: “Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.” David, the psalmist, points out that any person we go to for help or advice is limited in ability, wisdom, and knowledge. It also won’t and can’t always be there when you need help or advice.
It’s all right to go to other people for help or advice, but be sure to go to God for the last word. God has infinite ability, wisdom, and knowledge and God will always be there when you need him.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5 & 6
Prayer: Heavenly Father, guide me in all of my decisions. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
