Bible Reading: Luke 11:13

Luke 11:13 says, “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Don’t you love that verse? If we want the Holy Spirit in our lives, all we have to do is ask and God will give him to us. The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to us when we tell him that we are sorry for our sins and want God to take charge of our lives.

What are some of the advantages of having God’s Holy Spirit in our lives?

* When we aren’t sure what to say or how to say it, the Holy Spirit clarifies our prayers (Romans 8:26, 27).

* The Holy Spirit sees to it that we are nourished spiritually (Matthew 4:1).

* The Holy Spirit helps us know how to answer those who find fault with our faith in Jesus (Luke 12:12).

* The Holy Spirit helps us know what job God has for us to do (Luke 4:18).

Have you asked God to send his Holy Spirit to live in your heart and be part of your life? If not, you can do that right now. If so, you can trust him to direct you toward God’s best for your life.

"If You love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and he will be with you." John 14:15-17

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for forgiving my sins and sending the Holy Spirit into my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
