Bible Reading: Mark 8:11-13
Mark 8:11 says, “The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven. “ The Pharisees refused to trust that Jesus was who He
said He was. They questioned Jesus’ authority.
Are you a bit like the Pharisees? Do say things like “I’ll believe in God if he…,” “God, if you’ll do this one thing, I’ll give you the rest of my life,” or “God, if you get me out of this mess, I’ll believe in you”? Are you waiting for a “sign from heaven” to prove to you that Jesus really is God?
You can stop waiting. Jesus said that we have been given all of the signs that we are going to be given. God has given us all of the evidence that we need to have in order to know beyond doubt that Jesus is God. All we have to do is be willing to examine that evidence.
Have you ever really examined the evidence? Have you ever taken the time to really check out what the Bible teaches about Jesus, his life, death, and resurrection? Have you taken the time to find out for yourself what the Bible says about sin and our need for a Savior to determine if it makes sense?
I challenge you to go to the Bible and really study it. Find someone who has a solid knowledge and understanding of what the Bible says and ask him to show you in the Bible the evidence of who Jesus is, what he did, and why he did it.
“‘He sighed deeply and said, “Why does this generation ask for a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to it.’” Mark 8:12
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to know the truth about Jesus. Open my mind and eyes. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
