Bible Reading: Exodus 20:7
Exodus 20:7 tells us, “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.”
If we aren’t supposed to misuse God’s name, just what, exactly, can we do with it?
* Love it (Psalm 5:11).
* Admire its beauty (Psalm 8:1).
* Use it in song (Psalm 9:2).
* Tell others about it (Psalm 22:22).
* Use it as a weapon against our enemies (Psalm 44:5).
* Praise it (Psalm 44:8).
* Turn to it for hope when we’re discouraged (Psalm 52:9).
* Fear it (Psalm 61:5).
* Worship and revere it (Psalm 63:4).
* Cherish it’s nearness to us (Psalm 75:1).
* Look to it for deliverance from sin (Psalm 79:9).
* Make music to it (Psalm 92:1).
I hope you and I will always treat God’s holy name with the respect it deserves.
“Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.” 1 Chronicles 16:10
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your name is truly holy. Help me to always treat it with the honor and respect it deserves. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
