The Value of Quiet Time

Bible Reading: Psalm 104:34

“Make a joyful noise.” “Shout for joy.” “Sing to the Lord.” “Cry aloud to the Lord.”

Does worship always have to be so noisy?

God does enjoy hearing our praises and pleas for help.

He also enjoys spending some quiet time with us. Psalm 104:34 says, ““May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD.” We can sit with God and enjoy His presence in our heart and soul and mind.

Try this:

Pick up your Bible and go to a place where you can be alone -- no TV, no music, just you and God.

Now open your Bible and thumb through its pages until a passage catches your eye. Read it through. Ask God to speak to you through that passage. Reread that passage several times. Then sit back and think about what you’ve read. Let God teach you. Enjoy opening your heart and listening to what God has to say. Enjoy some quiet time with God.

“I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.” Psalm 119:15

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’ll be quiet and let You do the talking today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
