God's Perfection

Gayle J. Thorn

This post is a bit different. It is a personal paraphrase of Psalm 119:137-144. A paraphrase is when a person takes a passage of scripture and rewrites it in his or her own

words. That's what I did with Psalm 119:137-144 which talks about God's perfection. I hope you find it useful and enlightening.

Bible Reading: Proverbs 30:5 & Psalm 119:137-144

Proverbs 30:5 says, “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” That amazing truth inspired me to write a personalized paraphrase of another passage that talks about God’s perfection and the perfection of His words. (A personalized paraphrase is rewriting a verse or passage in your own words). That passage is Psalm 119:137-144. Here is my personal paraphrase:

“God, You are perfectly good. Every word You have written or spoken is perfect and good. I can always trust what You say.

Lord, I become so tired trying to obey You when those around me are doing just the opposite, but I love what You say and what You’ve told me to do. I know You are right. I can depend on Your words.

I may forget many things, but I’ll never forget what You’ve said to me. Your words will be perfect and good forever.

When I’m struggling or in trouble, Your words comfort me. Help me to always understand them so I can live for You.”

I hope God’s words and my personal paraphrase have inspired you to write a personalized paraphrase of a passage of the Bible that touches your heart.

“As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.” 2 Samuel 22:31

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are perfect in every way, including being the perfect inspiration! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
