Should I or Shouldn't I?

Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 32:4

“Should I or Shouldn’t I?” That is a question we all ask at one time or another. How can we know whether God would approve of something that we are considering doing?

If we know who God is and what God is like, we can know if God would or would not do a specific action. Deuteronomy 32:4 tells us this about God, “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Everything we consider doing, should be in line with this standard.

One way we can do that is to ask ourselves a couple of really important questions before we choose to do something are, “Can God do this?” and “Would God do this?”

If we know that whatever action we are considering is something that is it something that God can’t do, such as lying, cheating, or hating, or is something that God would never choose to do, then we know that we shouldn’t do it either.

The Bible clearly says that God disapproves of some behaviors, but other actions may seem less clear. However, God can’t and won’t do or approve of any action that doesn’t show love for others, and if God can’t do it or won’t do it, He doesn’t want you to do it either.

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.” 1 Peter 1:15

Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the strength to do only things that You approve of. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
