The Door Is Open

Bible Reading: Philippians 2:6-8

Today’s Bible reading says, “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a

servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death -- even death on a cross!”

Jesus became a human. He lived as a human. He experienced all the same temptations that every human experiences. He also lived a perfect, sinless life. How could Jesus manage to live a perfect life?

* Jesus was God.

* Jesus never stopped trusting God’s plan.

* Jesus always obeyed God’s every command. He knew God knew best.

* Jesus always kept his eyes on God, His Father. They never wavered.

* Jesus put us before himself, our needs before his own. He loved us that much.

Jesus lived a perfect life yet he died the death of a criminal, a sinner.

He died the death intended for you and me. His perfect life and his willing death open the door for you and me, imperfect human beings, to live a perfect life in heaven with him forever. All we have to do is walk in by giving Jesus control of our lives.

Won’t you walk through that door right now? It’s standing wide open.

“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. ‘He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.’” 1 Peter 2:21

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to live a perfect life then die for me. I’m walking through the door He opened right now. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
