Bible Reading: Numbers 22:22-34
Numbers 22:28 says, “Then the LORD opened the donkey's mouth, and she said to Balaam…”
God has a great sense of humor. Can you imagine – a talking donkey!
What is really funny, if you think about it, is that Balaam never once questioned the fact that the donkey was talking to him. Only the true God of heaven could find such a quirky, offbeat way to get his message across.
If Balaam’s talking donkey doesn’t convince you that God has a sense of humor, think about Peter finding the money to pay his taxes in a fish’s mouth. I can just see God chuckling over that one!
Still not convinced? Just look around. You will find signs of God’s sense of humor everywhere.
I just watch my pets.
The dog chases a flashlight beam.
The cat eats toast with peanut butter.
The kitten sleeps in the potato basket – with the potatoes.
The fish actually beg for food and follow pencil erasers around the edge of the aquarium.
If you have pets, you have most likely seen some similar silliness.
If you don’t have pets, go to the park or zoo and watch the animals and little kids there. You are bound to see some of the little quirks God built into them.
God must enjoy a good laugh. He wants us to be happy and enjoy a good laugh, too.
Thank God for the funny things in life then go have a good laugh.
“Surely God does not reject a blameless man or strengthen the hands of evildoers. He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.” Job 8:20 & 21
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me so many reasons to laugh and enjoy life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
