Thinking God's Way


Bible Reading: Philippians 4:8

Do you feel guilty about some of the thoughts that go through your head?

If so, God may be trying to get you attention. He may be trying to tell you that you

need to be making some changes in what goes on in your head.

If you aren’t thinking the kinds of thoughts God wants you to think now, how can you know what God does want you to think?

Follow the instructions found in Philippians 4:8 which says, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.” In this verse, God gives us a list of appropriate thoughts. We should think about things that are:

* True, real, loyal, faithful thoughts.

* Noble, morally superior, high quality thoughts, thoughts of great character.

* Right, fitting, proper thoughts that agree with God’s law.

* Pure, innocent, immaculate, uncontaminated thoughts.

* Lovely, beautiful, delightful, attractive thoughts.

* Admirable, approval arousing thoughts.

* Excellent, extraordinary thoughts of only the best quality.

* Praiseworthy, commendable thoughts deserving of God’s approval.

Knowing what to think is the first step. Actively changing your thoughts is the second step.

Changing the way you think may seem like an overwhelming job but if you have God in your life you don’t have to do it alone. God will help you think the way He wants you to think. There two things that we can do to help us think God’s way.

First, ask God to help us fill our minds with thoughts that please Him.

Second, keep our thoughts focused on God and the things of God.

When we do those two things, our thoughts will please God and our hearts and minds will be filled with perfect peace.

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to think your way. Please help me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
