Open the Gate

Bible Reading: Psalm 118:19

Psalm 118:19 says, “Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the LORD.” Just as you and I needed to ask God to open the gate into heaven by

accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, each of our friends needs to do the same thing.

Here are some things you can use to nudge your friend toward that gate:

* Give your friend a “You are a great friend” card. Write out an encouraging verse inside.

* Invite your friend to church – and offer a ride.

* Wear your favorite “W.W.J.D.” shirt the next time you see your friend.

* Share your favorite Christian CD or tape with your friend.

* Ask your friend, “Who do you think Jesus is?”

* Start a Bible study and invite your friend to join you.

* Take your friend to his or her favorite fast food place and pray before you eat.

* Give your friend a biographical book about a famous Christian.

* When your friend seems discouraged, share your favorite encouragement verse and tell your friend why that verse encourages you.

* Give your friend a pencil that says, “Smile, Jesus Loves you,” or “W.W.J.D.” on it.

Doing these things, or other things like them, are great ways to lead your friend to the gate so they can open it and begin their relationship with Jesus’ Christ. I hope you will try some of them today.

“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.” Colossians 4:3

Prayer: Heavenly Father, keep using me to lead my friends to the gate that leads to Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
