Protect Your Purity

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 5:22

If you want to lose weight is hanging out in a donut shop a good idea?

If you are trying to study should you be hanging out in an amusement park?

If you are trying to save money should you spend your free time in the mall or looking at catalogs?

If you are trying to remain pure and abstain from sexual activity until after you are married, should you put yourself in situations that could tempt you to become sexually active?

Most of us would agree that we should avoid situations that can tempt us to do the opposite of what is best for us. That is Paul’s the message in 1 Timothy 5:22 which says, “Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.”

No one can choose what foods you eat, where you study, whether to save or spend your money, or who you should spend time with. You are the only person who can make these decisions and others like them. You are the only person who can make decisions that will protect your purity.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, guide me toward people and places that will help me protect my purity. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
