Rebuilding Relationships

Bible Reading: Galatians 6:1

Has someone recently ask for your forgiveness for something that they did or said that hurt you? Have you forgiven them but are trying to figure out how to rebuild the

relationship? In Galatians 6:1 Paul tells us, “Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently.”

Are you uncertain as to how to rebuild the relationship? Here are some tips:

* Think of that person, not about him or her. Set aside how you have felt about that person in the past and consider his or her feelings now.

* Do a kindness for that person. Find a nice thing that you can do to brighten his or her day.

* Find something you admire about that person. Give him or her a sincere compliment.

* Pray for that person. Ask God to bless him or her.

* Look for the good things about that person and tell others about them.

* Most importantly, forgive the person. No relationship can be rebuilt without a foundation of forgiveness.

If you are obedient to God and do your part to restore and repair damaged relationships, He will bless you. God will also forgive you of the wrongs you have committed against Him so that your relationship with God can be rebuilt as well.

“Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:13

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to love the person who hurt me and rebuild our relationship. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
