Simply Forgive

Bible Reading: Ephesians 4:32

Ephesians 4:32 has a simple message: “Be kind and compassionate to

one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” While this message is

simple understand, it is not as simple to put into action.

How can you know if you have truly forgiven a person who has hurt you? Ask yourself the following questions:

* Do you get angry or irritated just thinking about the person who hurt you or what he did?

* Do you frequently relive the offense in your mind?

* Do you toy with ways to get revenge, even if you don’t intend to follow through with any of them? * Do you long for God to “give him what he deserves?”

If you answered, “Yes,” to any or all of these questions, you probably have not truly forgiven the person who hurt you.

How can you truly forgive him?

Go to God – again and again, if necessary – ask him to give you the courage and strength of character that you need to truly forgive. If you sincerely want to forgive, God will give you the ability to forgive.

"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:14 & 15

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I really want to forgive those who have hurt me. Please help me to forgive them. In Jesus' name. Amen.
