Christianity takes a single-minded approach to heaven, teaching that there is only one way to heaven – faith in Jesus. That means that you know have sinned (done wrong
things), need to be rescued from the punishment for that sin (eternity in hell), and believe that Jesus’ death on the cross was the punishment for your sin.
In Matthew 7:13 & 14, Jesus called the “narrow gate.” These verses say, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Emphasis added.) Please note that this “narrow gate” isn’t a thing, it is a person – Jesus Christ. When you ask God to forgive your sins, tell Him that you believe that Jesus died in your place, and that you want a personal relationship with Him.
How is it possible to believe something so “narrow” as believing that Jesus is the only way to heaven?
Jesus, Himself, told us that He is the only way to heaven:
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
If you are going to be a Christian, you must believe all of Jesus’ teachings, not part of them. Christianity isn’t a “fence-straddling” religion; it’s an “all or nothing” relationship with God.
Let’s pray together.
Heavenly Father, I know Jesus is the only way to heaven. Thank You for making a way for me to be forgiven. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
