Digi-Journal: The Message of the Cross (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Hi, Everyone!

Today’s Digi-Doodle is a word art of 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

The sad truth is that many people who haven’t chosen to follow Jesus believe that the message of the cross is foolishness, that it’s “hooey” or just “a bunch of mumbo-jumbo.” They either don’t – or won’t – see that it is true and wise and the only solution to both their earthly problems and their eternal problem.

On the other hand, Christians, those people who have made the choice to allow Jesus to take charge of their lives, see the message of the cross very differently. They see it as being the wisest, most powerful message in existence.

What, exactly is the message of the cross?

It’s very simple.

We have all sinned – every single one of us, no exceptions.

We all deserve to be punished for that sin – punished by dying eternally and being forced to be separated forever from the God who loves us.

God made a way for us to avoid that punishment and be allowed, instead, to live in His presence forever – Jesus was sent to die in our place.

Jesus died, was buried, and remained in the grave for three days. Then He rose back to life having ended death’s hold on us and freeing us from our punishment.

Anyone who admits his or her sin, believes in Jesus and His sacrifice for his or her, confesses his or her sin to God, and claims Jesus as his or her Lord and Savior, will be saved, or rescued, from sin and death and given eternal life in heaven.

That’s it. The “Related Verses” below are parts of God’s word that will tell you more about the message of the cross. I hope you will read them. I also hope, that you will accept Jesus and experience the power of the message of the cross for yourself.
