Fertilizer

Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 8:16-21

Growing plants need fertilizer. Whether that fertilizer comes by way of a farmer or gardener adding it to the soil or by way of natural decay in the forest or field makes no

difference. Fertilizer is necessary food for growing plants.

As Christians, we are to grow, too. We should grow closer to God. We should grow to be more like Jesus. We are to grow in honesty, integrity, and love. 2 Corinthians 8:21 says, “For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.” In order for a Christian to grow and become strong, healthy parts of our character we must use “fertilizer” as well. The fertilizer we need is a combination of:

* Continually keeping promises.

* Daily determining to be dependable.

* Persistently purposing to be punctual.

* Standing steadfast in sincerely serving others.

* Regularly spending time in God’s word.

* Praying continually.

We can’t grow to be more the people God wants us to be without this special “fertilizer.”

Have you been fertilizing regularly?

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to grow in honesty and in integrity. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
