Who is the strongest person you know?
My dad was strong. When I was a little girl, I was always amazed by the things my
daddy could lift.
My husband is strong. There are more times than I can count when I’ve asked him to lift, move, or open something that my back, arms, or hands couldn’t handle.
Most professional athletes are strong. They can do astounding things. As I write this, I am watching the Strongest Man competition. These men lift, push, and pull hundreds of pounds! Incredible!
However, when compared to God, even the combined strength of all these men is weak. God’s power is supreme. Psalm 50:1 calls God “The Mighty One” saying, “The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.” Other verses in the Bible refer to God as “The Lord God Almighty” (Revelation 4:8) and “The Mighty Warrior” (Zephaniah 3:17). God’s power is strong enough to defend us against any attack Satan might launch. God’s power is constant. It never weakens. It enables God to perfectly keep all of His promises, to save us from sin’s trap, and to keep us safe for all eternity.
Aren’t you glad that God is the Mighty One? Aren’t you glad that the Mighty One is there for you?
If you don’t have a personal, protective relationship with the Mighty One, start one today. Ask God to forgive your sins and to become your Strength, your Protector, and your Savior right now. Here’s a simple prayer that you can pray to do that right now:
Heavenly Father, forgive me and save me today. I want to be under the protection and care of the Mighty One. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
