Poetry & Prose: Auld Lang Syne

Auld Lang Syne is an old folk song that most Americans are familiar with. It is often sung at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve as we celebrate the beginning of the new

year. The song is lengthy, but we Americans only sing the first verse and the chorus (see below). If you want to know more about the history of this song, visit this site.

Here are the lyrics of Auld Lang Syne – my New Year’s treat for you. Enjoy!

Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,

And never brought to mind?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,

And days o’ lang syne!

Chorus:

For auld lang syne, my dear

For auld lang syne,

We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet

For auld lang syne!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
