Do You Trust Your Chair?

Bible Reading: Isaiah 28:16

Are you sitting down right now? When you sat down, why did you believe that your chair would hold you up? Probably because it hadn’t let you down before. Every time you

sat in it, your chair supported your weight. It had always been reliable in the past, so you trusted it without question today.

We have an even more certain, more trustworthy foundation on which we can set our lives – Jesus. In Isaiah 28:16 God said, “So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: ‘See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.’” God gave us Jesus to be the foundation of our lives, the unshakable “seat” on which we can always sit never doubting for even a second its ability to support us. Jesus has always been reliable in the past. We can trust him now and forever.

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am depending on Jesus to keep my life stable and secure. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
