Bible Reading: Proverbs 10:1
What is one of the best ways for a child or teenager to get on his or her parents’ good side and make them proud?
Proverbs 10:1 gives us the answer. This verse says, “A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.” Making wise choices pleases and honors our parents because other people see the young person’s wisdom and attributes it to his or her upbringing.
Making good choices is a sign of wisdom. Making good choices it shows that you are
* Responsible.
* Respectful of others.
* Considerate and really care about others’ feelings.
* A person who thinks things through and doesn’t act rashly.
* A person who asks God and godly people for advice.
A son or daughter like that would make any parent proud.
God, our Heavenly Father, is like our earthly parents. He is pleased and proud when we act wisely and make good choices.
I hope we will always please and honor God be acting wisely and making good choices.
“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:14 & 15
