Under God's Wings

Bible Reading: Psalm 91:4

As a storm brews and the wind begin to blow a mother hen will gather her chicks under her wings. She will hide them under her feathers, sheltering them from the

storm. If you were to look you would see only the hen. The chicks would be hidden from sight. The hen’s feathers shield her young from the wind and rain. Her feathers are sufficient for the job. The chicks are safe. As long as they stay under their mother’s wings, they will remain warm and dry, protected by their mother’s very being.

Likewise, when we accept Christ, God gathers us under his feathers. Psalm 91:4 tells us, “He [God] will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” He tucks us under his powerful wings and protects us with his very being. No matter how hard the wind blows or how long the storm rages, we are safe as long as we remain under his sheltering wings. God’s grace and power are sufficient to get us through even the worst of life’s storms.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for forgiving me and keeping safe under Your wings. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
