Bible Reading: Psalm 145:10-12
While God has given each of us one or more talents, there is one talent that He has given to each one of us – the ability to talk. Some of us use this talent more than others,
but we can all talk.
Psalm 145:10-12 says, “All you have made will praise you, O LORD; your saints will extol you. They will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all men may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.” In other words, God gave us the ability to talk so we could praise and honor Him.
Talking is probably the most used and most misused of all of our God-given talents. It is all too easy to use this talent to hurt others rather than help them.
Why did God choose to give us this potentially troublesome talent?
Well, first He knew we would need to communicate with each other. He also wanted us to be able to enjoy the sounds of the voices of friends, family, beautiful songs, and exciting stories. God knew talking could be a wonderful blessing for each of us.
God’s primary reason for giving each of us this talent is so that we could use it to honor him and share him and his love with those around us. While we are using our talent this way, God can enjoy the sounds of our voices.
I hope God enjoys the sound of my voice. I also hope He is enjoying the sound of your voice.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:29 & 30
Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are wonderful! I want to use my voice to praise Your holy name! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
