Bible Reading: 2 Thessalonians 1:3-2:12
In today’s Bible reading, Paul is talking about Jesus’ Second Coming, the day when Jesus will return to the earth to take those who have accepted Him ask their Lord and
Savior to heaven to be with Him. These verses say, “God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.”
Do thoughts of Christ’s Second Coming scare you? Are you nervous about what might happen?
If you have Jesus as Savior you have nothing to fear. When Jesus comes back it won’t be to punish those who have accepted him. On the contrary Jesus will come with great power and in a blaze of fire along with multitudes of powerful angels to rescue all who believe in him and have given him control of their lives from the pain and suffering of this earth.
Those faithful believers will be snatched up to join Jesus and rule with him over the rest of the world for 1,000 years! Imagine, sitting on the throne side by side with Jesus, King of the World! Christ’s Second Coming won’t be a sad or terrifying experience for Jesus’ followers. It will be a time of joy and celebration.
Are you getting a little bit excited about Jesus’ return now? I hope so. All Christians should look forward to their King’s return.
If you aren’t ready for Jesus Christ’s Second Coming, I urge you to confess your sin and ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior right now.
“Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” 1 Thessalonians 5:1 & 2
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be ready when Jesus comes again. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
