Bible Reading: Matthew 26:47-56
When Jesus was arrested He had plenty of opportunities to take the easy way out. He could have lied or tried to talk the soldiers out of arresting Him. He could have fought
back or turned His disciples into a gang to fight off the soldiers. He could have told the high priest what He thought the high priest wanted to hear. He could have given in and promised not to teach in public anymore.
Jesus could have avoided the entire scene if he had taken the easy way out -- he could have stayed in heaven and never come to earth in the first place. But Jesus didn’t take the easy way out.
When Judas appeared in the garden along with a group of armed soldiers Jesus told Judas, “Friend, do what you came for" (Matthew 26:50). Then Jesus allowed the soldiers to arrest Him. Jesus kept his head and stood firm against the pressures put on Him. He stood firm and finished God’s plan for him, not because it was the easy way, but because it was God’s way.
I hope you will always stand firm and stick to the plan that you know God has for you.
“But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to keep standing firm and sticking to Your plan for my life. Help me to continually obey You, just as Jesus did. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
