Bible Reading: Acts 1:8
We all know that God expects us to tell other people about Jesus and the salvation we can have through Him. That’s the point of Acts 1:8 which says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Sometimes, that is easier said than done. Here are some suggestions that can help you obey God and share Jesus with the people around you:
* Talk with them, don’t talk at (lecture) them.
* Tell them about Jesus a little at a time. Don’t overwhelm them by trying to give them too much information at once.
* Treat each person as an individual. Don’t use “cookie cutter” evangelism.
* Be fearless. Don’t be afraid to tell them what Jesus did for you and what you believe about Jesus.
* Be sensitive. Don’t try to force a decision. Your job is to give them the information that they need to make a decision. It is their job to make the decision.
* Be ready to change the subject. Don’t bulldoze on ahead if they have lost interest or seem to have become uncomfortable. You can talk more about Jesus another time.
* Depend on God. He will give you the right words to say. Trust him.
* Be yourself.
I hope you will take these suggestions to heart and will go share Jesus today!
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14 & 15
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to use the courage of the Holy Spirit to reach other people for Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
