Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:31
What kind of music do you listen to? Country? Rap? Gospel? Rock & Roll?
The style of the music you listen to is less important that the words and message in the
songs and the actions and attitudes that those lyrics encourage.
Here is a checklist you can use to determine if what you are listening to gives glory to God.
* Does the message in the music and lyrics encourage me to obey God?
* Does it show love toward God?
* Does it show love toward others?
* Does it speak of or suggest sinful behavior?
* Does it speak of or even hint at hurtful ideas or behavior?
* Does it make me want to have God in the room listening to the music with me?
Let 1 Corinthians 10:31 be your guide in selecting whatever music you choose to listen to. This verse says, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want every choice I make, including my choice in music, to make You happy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
