Value People

Bible Reading: John 4:10-14 & Romans 12:10

How do you treat someone who is different from you? Romans 12:10 gives us the answer saying, “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

We can learn a lot about how to treat people – all people – from Jesus’ example. For instance, in John 4:1-42 Jesus had a conversation with a Samaritan woman. Jesus treated the Samaritan woman the same way He treated everyone else. Jesus treated her with respect. He treated her as a person who had value. Jesus showed her God’s mercy and love. He spoke to her person-to-person leaving all prejudice behind.

If we truly desire to be like Jesus, we should follow Jesus’ example. We should treat everyone, people we know well and people we don’t know at all, people we agree with and people we disagree with, people we like and people we don’t like, people who know Jesus and people who have yet to accept Him as Lord and Savior with love, respect, kindness, and mercy. We should treat them with dignity and honor them as people who have value to God.

“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:12

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to follow Jesus’ example and value people as much as He does. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
