Bible Reading: Romans 6:13
Romans 6:13 says, “Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body
to him as instruments of righteousness.” Devoting yourself to God means giving yourself to him. A time of daily devotions is a time of giving yourself to God everyday so that he can teach you and enjoy your companionship.
Are you looking for a way to devote some time to God every day? Here are a few ideas:
Read the daily devotion on Gayle’s Goodies every day then get out your Bible and look up one or two other passages on the topic discussed in the tip.
Use a devotional book (biblegateway.com has a list of great ones).
Read through a book of the Bible a chapter at a time.
Use a topical study guide.
Do a word study. Look up a word in a concordance. Read all of the verses listed on that word. Write down what you learn.
Read a passage then create an outline of that passage.
Once you’ve chosen a way to do your devotions, dig right in. The main thing is to be consistent. Chose a specific time of day that works for you and then go it every day.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
Prayer: Heavenly Father, show me how we should spend our time together. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
