Fear of Death

Bible Reading: Isaiah 25:8 & John 5:24

“He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken” (Isaiah 25:8).

“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24).

Do you worry about dying? Does even thinking about death make you nervous? Does thinking about death scare you?

There are two verses at the beginning of this devotion for a reason. They are there to reassure you.

These verses will remind you that God is in control of everything – even death.

These verses will remind you that if you have given Jesus control of your life you don’t have to be afraid to die. That’s because Jesus already died and rose to life again. Because Jesus didn’t stay dead, we won’t either. For those who have given Jesus control of their lives, death is just the door that leads from life on earth to eternal life in heaven with God.

I encourage you to take some time to talk to God. Tell Him about all of your fears and worries. Let Him comfort and reassure You. Allow Him to fill you with His peace that passes all understanding.

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me eternal life with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
