Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 is the go-to scripture when teaching about friendship or marriage. I’ve discovered that this passage also has something to teach us about God’s sufficiency. This passage starts

by saying: “Two are better than one” and ends with the words, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
God gave us friends, family, and spouses so we can help each other. Sometimes, however, that isn’t enough. Two is better than one, but there are times when two isn’t sufficient. That’s where the third “strand” comes in. That third strand, the dragonfly in my drawing, represents God. (The two toads represent each one of us and a friend, family member, or spouse.)
When we include God in our families, our friendships, and our marriages, those relationships can withstand all of the struggle and pain and heartache of this world. Not because God is that “little bit more” that we need to keep us going or give us strength, but because God is the sufficient strength. It is God’s own sufficiency that binds our relationships together and keeps them strong. It is God’s own sufficiency that makes it possible for us to keep going during the hard times and survive those situations that seem unbearable and overwhelming. It is God that is sufficient at all times and in all situation. As His children, we can trust God’s sufficiency to always be there strengthening us every moment of every day.
It was such fun to draw these toads, their dragonfly friend, and their environment! I hope you are blessed by them, my friends!
Here's a pic of this journal entry as it appears in my Bible:
