Bible Reading: Psalm 108:1
Music is a gift from God. Music gives us joy, encouragement. It’s relaxing. It’s energizing. We use it to celebrate and relieve sorrow. Music delights God and gives him joy.
Psalm 108:1 says, “My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul.” God created music as a way for us to worship Him. Music is a part of our soul. Not only that, God created us with a built in musical instrument – our voices.
Sadly, the same instrument which we can use to create beautiful music can also be used to make ugly, screeching sounds such as angry shouting, profanity, hurtful put-downs, criticism, hateful remarks, lies, bitter complaints, and revengeful gossip.
What kind of “music” are you making with the voice God gave to you? I hope it is music of worship and praise to the Lord, music that celebrates God and draws people toward Him.
“Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.” Psalm 33:1
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that every sound I utter will be music to Your ears. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
