Bible Reading: Luke 5:29
If you are standing on a table and holding out your hand to someone standing on the floor in order to try to pull them up onto the table with you, what will very likely happen?
Instead of pulling that person up, they will probably pull you down.
The same thing can easily happen spiritually. If you spend a lot of time with unsaved friends in their environment, they can easily pull you down into their sin rather that you pulling them up out of it.
If you completely stop seeing your unsaved friends how will they ever come to know Jesus or experience God’s love for themselves? How can you spend time with your unsaved friends without putting your spiritual life at risk?
Why not do what Levi did. Matthew threw a party for Jesus. Luke 5:29 tells us, ““Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.” He invited both his Christian friends and his unsaved friends so he could share the good news of Jesus’ salvation without risking being pulled back into a sinful lifestyle.
You can invite your unsaved friends to a party, a Christian concert, or some other Christian event with you and your Christian friends. That way you and your saved friends can work together to help pull up your unsaved friends and greatly reduce the risk that you will be pulled down.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to find ways to include my unsaved friends in activities with my saved friends. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
