Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 1:6-7
A spark is small and weak. It produces very little heat or light. But, if you fan that spark with your hand, it will burst into a bright flame that can warm you and light the area around you.
Our life with Christ is like that little spark. By ourselves, we can't shine brightly enough to light the way for others to find Jesus. We can't share the warmth of God’s love with others.
When we accept Jesus as our Savior, He gives us a "spark" of new life. Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 1:6, "use that gift and let it grow more and more, like a small flame grows into a fire." We should fan the spark of new life. Then it will become a bright flame that will clearly light the way to Jesus and people will feel the warmth of God’s love and want Jesus in their lives.
How do we "fan the flame" of the spark of our Christian life?
1. Read the Bible.
2. Pray.
3. Worship with other Christians.
4. Talk to other Christians about our faith.
5. Ask other Christians to pray for us. Act in kind and loving ways.
I hope you fan your flame regularly so you can shine brightly and share the warmth of God's love.
"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew5:16
Prayer: Lord God, help me to use your Word and my time with more mature Christians to fan the flame of my Christian life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
