Bible Reading: Galatians 2:16
Do you think you are doing your best to do all the right things so you will go to heaven?
If we are going to "try our best" to get into heaven, that means we must obey God's law
perfectly. That is the only "best" that is acceptable to God. We are all accountable to God for all our words, actions, and thoughts. No matter what we do, it will never be enough to get us into heaven. God knows that but He loves us anyway.
Thankfully, we don’t have to try to get into heaven. Galatians 2:16a tells us, "But we know that no one is made right with God by following the law. It is trusting in Jesus Christ that makes a person right with God." God has made a way for us to go to heaven that is totally free. We don’t have to do anything to earn it. All God asks is that we admit that we know our best isn’t good enough to get us into heaven and tell him that we believe Jesus’ death and resurrection opened the door to heaven for us.
Won’t you stop trying to work your way to heaven by doing your best? Jesus already did all of the work for you.
"I mean that you have been saved by grace because you believed. You did not save yourselves; it was a gift from God. You are not saved by the things you have done, so there is nothing to boast about." Ephesians 2:8 & 9
Prayer: God, I accept Jesus' death and resurrection as the only thing necessary to get me to heaven. In Jesus' name. Amen.
