True Happiness

Bible Reading: Proverbs 15:13

Proverbs 15:13 says, “A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.”

What is true happiness? How can we have true happiness?

Let’s start with what true happiness isn’t.

True happiness isn’t the smiling, warm fuzzy that comes from doing something fun. It doesn’t come from “taking care of #1.” It doesn’t come from being “self-actualized.” It doesn’t come from going to the perfect school or having the perfect job. It doesn’t come from having perfect friends or the perfect family, and it doesn’t come from enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

True happiness can’t be found in any of those things. All of those things are temporary. None of them will last to give you true happiness for eternity.

In reality, true happiness is actually joy – the contented knowledge the no matter what life brings, God will be with you.

How can you have true happiness or joy in your life?

True happiness can only come from one place – Jesus. With Jesus as your Savior you will be able to be content, secure, loved, lovable – everything that you need to be truly happy forever.

Would you sincerely like to have true, eternal happiness? Ask God to forgive your sins and invite Jesus’ Holy Spirit to live in your heart.

“You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” Hebrews 1:9

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the true happiness – the joy – that comes from having Jesus in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
