Noserings

Bible Reading: Genesis 24:30

Did you think that nose rings were an invention of the 1990’s? They weren’t. Nose rings have been around for thousands of years. Even people in the Bible wore nose rings. Genesis 24:30 says, “As

soon as he had seen the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister's arms, and had heard Rebekah tell what the man said to her, he went out to the man and found him standing by the camels near the spring.”

Abraham’s servant gave a nose ring to Rebekah, Isaac’s future wife.

While the Abraham considered nose rings beautiful and valuable, a pretty girl wearing pretty things wasn’t what he considered most important in choosing a wife for his son.

Abraham wanted a wife for Isaac who had the same religious background that he had raised Isaac with. He wanted to be certain that his son’s wife wouldn’t draw him away from God.

What do you value when you are thinking about your future husband or wife? How do you choose which person to date?

Even if you aren’t interested in getting married or you think that marriage is a long way away, remember that every person you date is a potential marriage partner.

Is the person that you are dating or thinking about dating the kind of person who will keep you close to God drive a wedge between you and your Lord?

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for wanting me to have just right person as my marital partner. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
