Bible Reading: Psalm 55:23
Do you think that there are too many people in the church who say they are a Christian, but don’t live like a Christian?
There are some hypocrites within the church, but those people should never be used as an excuse for putting off accepting Jesus.
Jesus is the only person with all of the right answers. The people in the church are just people. They make mistakes. They don’t know all of the answers. Before we judge them too harshly, we need to remember that we either have done or very likely will do many of the same things that they do. We aren’t perfect either.
Our eyes and thoughts should be on Jesus, not other people. We need to let God deal with them. Psalm 55:23 says, “But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in the Lord.” Hypocritical people will have to answer to God for every action they take, every thought they think, and every word they speak, just like we will. God doesn’t play favorites. He will punish a Christian for doing wrong just as surely as he will punish a non-Christian for doing wrong.
Our job is to worship God, put God first, obey God, keep our thoughts and eyes on God, and let God deal with the hypocrites.
“Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.” James 4:17
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to keep my eyes on You and to let You deal with hypocritical people. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
