Bible Reading: Romans 12:1
For the past week, we have been talking about Christmas Sacrifices. Joseph, Mary, the innkeeper, the shepherds, the wisemen, and Jesus all made sacrifices. They did their parts.
God did His part, too. He sacrificed His only Son, Jesus. God sent Jesus to earth that first Christmas to be born as a helpless baby, to live as a man, then to die on the cross for our sins.
Now it is our turn to make a sacrifice for God. This Christmas, I pray that each one of us will listen to Paul’s words in Romans 12:1. This verse says, “So I beg you, brothers and sisters, because of the great mercy God has shown us, offer your lives as a living sacrifice to him – an offering that is only for God and pleasing to him. Considering what he has done, it is only right that you should worship him in this way.”
How do we become living sacrifices? Give God control of our lives. Let Him control everything we think, do, and say/sign.
I pray that we will all be willing to offer ourselves – mind, body, and soul – to be living sacrifices for God.
“So through Jesus we should never stop offering our sacrifice to God. That sacrifice is our praise, coming from lips that speak his name. And don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with others, because sacrifices like these are very pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:15 & 16
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sacrificing Jesus for me. I offer my life to you as a living sacrifice. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
What sacrifice do you think God wants you to make for Him?
