Bible Reading: Matthew 2:1-12
Today is the fifth day of our series on Christmas sacrifices. We will talk about the sacrifices of the wisemen.
The wisemen were wealthy, well-educated men. They were accustomed to a comfortable life-style.
In Matthew 2:2, the wisemen asked the people, “Where is the child who has been born to be the king of the Jews? We saw the star that shows he was born. We saw it rise in the sky in the east and have come to worship him.” When they saw the star, the wisemen chose to sacrifice their comfort to make the long journey to see Jesus. The wisemen also sacrificed much money and time to prepare for the trip and to buy expensive gifts to give to Jesus. They understood that Jesus is much more important than physical or financial comfort.
Is Jesus more important to you than comfort or money?
“You cannot serve two masters at the same time. You will hate one master and love the other. Or you will be loyal to one and not care about the other. You cannot serve God and Money at the same time.” Luke 16:13
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Jesus is much more important to me than money or my personal comfort. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
What is most important in your life? Why?
