Christmas Sacrifices: Mary

Bible Reading: Luke 1:26-38

In the last post, we started talking about Christmas sacrifices. We discussed the sacrifices that Joseph made.

Today, we will talk about Mary’s sacrifices.

God sent an angel to talk to Mary. The angel greeted Mary in the name of the Lord.

Luke 1:29 says, “But Mary was very confused about what the angel said. She wondered, “What does this mean?”

The angel told Mary that the Holy Spirit would cause her to become pregnant. The baby would be the Son of God.

Mary was afraid. She knew that if she obeyed God’s plan, she would sacrifice her reputation. Mary knew she would never live a “normal life.” People would stare and call her names. Mary also knew that she would sacrifice her physical body because of the changes pregnancy causes. She knew some of her friends would abandon her. She knew she would be sacrificing her life to raise a son she hadn’t planned on having.

Because Mary chose to make those sacrifices and give birth to Jesus, we have the opportunity to have eternal life in heaven.

Thank God for the eternal life you can have because of Mary’s sacrifices.

“Mary said, “I am the Lord’s servant. Let this thing you have said happen to me!” Then the angel went away.” Luke 1:38

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the eternal life I have through Jesus because of Mary’s sacrifices. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What are you willing to sacrifice to have eternal life in heaven? Tell me about it in the comments.
