Bible Reading: 1 Peter 3:13-22
1 Peter 3:15a says, “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” Peter is telling us to
prepare to tell people about how Jesus changed our lives and given us hope for the future.
One of the best ways to tell people about the hope you have in Jesus is to prepare your “before and after” story. Here’s how.
Ask yourself this question: “What was my life like before Jesus?” Think about it. Write out your answer.
Next, ask yourself this question: “How did my life change after Jesus?” Again, think about this question then write out your answer.
Now you have your “before and after” story. You can use this story to tell people about how Jesus has changed your life.
I hope you won’t waste time, but will begin now to get “prepared to give an answer” to everyone who asks you about your faith in Jesus.
Then go, tell people about Jesus, following Peter’s advice in verses 15b & 16: “But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”
“Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” Matthew 10:32 & 33
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to prepare my “before and after” story about how Jesus changed my life and the hope I have in him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Leave a comment & tell me about how you prepare to tell people about what Jesus has done in your life. I'd also love to hear what Jesus has done for you. Please, comment.
