Excuses

Bible Reading: Matthew 27:24-50

Jesus was beaten, ridiculed, spit on, laughed at, and executed. He didn’t let fear stop Him from doing what God sent him to earth to do. Jesus didn’t let fear stop Him from showing that He loved us

by being punished for our sins.

Proverbs 29:25 says, “Fear can be a trap, but if you trust in the Lord, you will be safe.” If we are afraid of what people might say or do, we become trapped. We are trapped by sin and disobedience.

Are you obeying God? Are you putting off doing the things that you know He wants you to do? Are you continuing to do things that you know God dislikes? Are you afraid of what people might think or say if you began living God’s way, got rid of harmful habits, and started treating people – especially those you dislike – with love and respect?

When we trust and obey God, there is nothing any person can do to us that will cause us eternal harm.

I hope you won’t allow fear keep you from serving God and showing Him that you love Him. I hope you don’t make excuses for disobeying God.

“In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Psalm 56:11

Prayer: God, give me the courage to serve you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
