Why Pray? (11)

Bible Reading: Hebrews 4:14-16

Reason #10: Prayer is God’s gift to us. We pray because we can.

We will end our series on ten reasons why you should pray with the simplest, most straight-forward reason: Prayer is God’s gift to us. We pray because we can.

Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” To tell God what is on our hearts, to ask Him to meet our needs, and to intercede with Him on behalf of other people (telling God about their needs) is an indescribable privilege.

There is only one way to receive the honor and right to have access to God through prayer in the name of Jesus. We must first choose to make Jesus a part of our lives by confessing our sins to God and telling God that we want to accept the salvation that Jesus offers. Then we receive this precious gift of free, unrestricted access to God through prayer. (If you have never made this decision, I urge you to do so now.)

Once you have made this transaction, I encourage you take full advantage of the gift of prayer. Talk to God often. Talk to God about everything. Just talk to God – because you can!

“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” John 14:13 & 14

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the indescribable privilege of being able to talk to You anytime, anywhere. In Jesus' name. Amen.
