God's Voice (14) The Apostle John

Bible Reading: Revelation 1:1-3

Each person chosen by God to be His voice is unique. Each spoke for God in a specific place, for a specific time, and to a specific people. John, the apostle, one of Jesus’ closest friends, was no

different.

Revelation 1:1 & 2 tell us, “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw – that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Like those who served as God’s voice before and after John, John was hand-picked by God.

Part of John’s tenure as God’s voice was served speaking to the people around him. What was the message God gave John to deliver to the people?

John related Jesus’ earthly ministry, death, and resurrection in order to persuade people of the truth of John 3:16 which says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The rest of John’s time as God’s voice was used to prophesy of the events to come at the end of time and at the beginning of Jesus’ Second Coming when He will reign as King for 1,000 years.

In spite of being imprisoned for years, John continued to faithfully serve as God’s voice. He wasn’t ashamed, embarrassed, or afraid to do the job God gave him to do. John was careful to both speak and write God’s word accurately. He understood that God’s message is too important to treat flippantly.

Just as God chose John and each of the other people who have served as God’s voice, God has chosen you to be His voice. Here. Now. God has put you on earth at this moment and in the place where you are to be His voice and deliver His message to everyone you meet. I hope you will accept that great honor and will bravely and accurately share God’s message of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ.

“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.” Revelation 22:18

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me to be Your voice. Help me to faithfully obey and tell people about the forgiveness and salvation they can have through Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
