Bible Reading: Acts 9:1-19
Romans 2:11 says, “For God does not show favoritism.” God’s selection of Saul to be His voice proves the truth of that verse. Saul was an enemy of God. Saul was a Jew who persecuted Christians,
Yet God chose Saul to be His voice.
Acts 9 relates the startling events that led to Saul becoming God’s voice. In Verses 15 and 16 God spoke to a man named Ananias about Saul (later called Paul), saying, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
Up until this time, God’s messengers had been His voice to His chosen people, the Israelites, only. Paul became God’s voice to the Gentiles, all people not of Jewish descent.
After the life-changing events of Paul’s calling by God, Paul dedicated his life to delivering God’s message of unconditional love, forgiveness, and salvation to people throughout Asia and the Roman world.
God can use us to be His voice regardless of our past. What matters is our present relationship with Jesus Christ. If you have given your heart, soul, and life to Jesus Christ, stand tall, be courageous, and dedicate the remainder of your life to delivering God’s message to everyone you know.
“So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, [9] who has saved us and called us to a holy life – not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.” 2 Timothy 1:8 & 9a
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Paul’s example. Help me to follow in his footsteps and deliver your message of love, forgiveness, and salvation to everyone around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
