Bible Reading: Acts 2:14-40
After Jesus returned to heaven, God selected Peter to be the voice of God. While waiting in Jerusalem with the other disciples, God poured out His Holy Spirit on all of the disciples, including Peter.
Then Peter stood and began giving the people around Him a message from God. In Acts 2:36 & 38 Peter said, “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ...Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
The message Peter spoke, wasn’t a new message. The message that God gave Peter to share echoed the message of the prophets, John the Baptist, and Jesus before Him: Jesus is Lord! Turn from your sin and make Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life!
Peter had overcome fear and failure, having denied Jesus three times just before Jesus was crucified. God had restored Peter and used him in an amazing way to establish the church by choosing Peter to be His voice at that crucial point in time.
We may have failed God in the past. We may be afraid of failing Him again. That doesn’t mean we can’t be God’s voice today. God can overcome all of our fears and failures. He can speak through us. Despite our weaknesses, imperfections, and frailties, God wants us to be His voice today.
Will you allow God to speak through you?
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong…It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:27 & 30
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m a imperfect but willing voice. Speak through me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
