God's Voice (8) Jeremiah

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 1:1-16

Have you tried to tell someone something really important, but they refused to listen to you? That is what happened to Jeremiah. Jeremiah was God’s voice at a time when no one would listen to

God.

God had told the Israelite people not to worship idols. He had told them that He should be their only God. He had warned them not to abandon Him.

The Israelites hadn’t listened. Therefore, God chose Jeremiah to warn them that God was about to punish them “because of their wickedness in forsaking me [God], in burning incense to other gods and in worshiping what their hands have made.”

God chose Jeremiah to be His voice before Jeremiah was born.

Before you were born, God chose you to be His voice, too. God has given you a message that He wants you to share with people. God wants you to warn people that one day soon, God will judge all of us because of our sin. He wants you to tell people that they can escape the punishment for their sin by accepting Jesus’ death as the punishment for their sin.

Jeremiah wasn’t sure he was qualified to be God’s voice, but he obeyed and delivered God’s message to the Israelites.

You may not think you can speak for God. Don’t worry! God can speak through you just as He spoke through Jeremiah!

“But the LORD said to me, ‘Do not say, “I am only a child.” You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,’ declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 1:7 & 8

Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the courage to be Your voice. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
