God's Voice (6) Elijah

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 17:1 & 2 Kings 1-17

In 1 and 2 Kings we read about another man chosen to be God’s voice: Elijah. Elijah’s responsibility as God’s voice was to deliver a very unpleasant message to King Ahab. 1 Kings 17:1 tells

us what this message was. This verse says, “Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”

Elijah didn’t say there “might not be rain” or “it’s unlikely that it will rain.” He said, “there will be neither dew nor rain.” Elijah was confident. He was confident, not in himself, but that, if he faithfully delivered God’s message, God would be faithful and would do exactly what the message said He would do.

Elijah knew he could trust God. He knew God wouldn’t let him down. He knew he could trust God.

Like Elijah, we can be confident, too. We can know that when we act as God’s voice and deliver the message He has given us to deliver, He has also given us the power and authority to be His voice.

God has given you the power and authority to deliver His message of love, forgiveness, and salvation. Be confident. Be God’s voice and deliver His message to someone today!

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord.” 2 Timothy 1:7 & 8a

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the power and authority to be Your voice. Help me to be confident and deliver Your message today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
